Enable Me Project

Since 2005, Enable Me has worked to raise disability awareness with people of all ages and abilities, whether in a school, college or youth club setting or in the workplace.

Enable Me delivers a wide range of innovative services and activities in the community, including awareness training workshops, disability sports clubs & events, ‘Enrichment Day’ and other after-school activities for schools, colleges and youth clubs. Our work addresses issues such as Equality & Diversity legislation, the history of Disability Rights and the various ‘models of disability, social exclusion/exclusion, bullying, barriers (including language, faith and disability), depression and body dysmorphia, for example.

We work with people of all ages and abilities and believe in the positive benefits of partnership working to achieve better and more sustainable outcomes.

Our work is delivered by a team of trained volunteers, the majority of whom are disabled. We also offer opportunities for people with disabilities to increase their skills, knowledge and self-esteem by working with us either as volunteers or part-time staff.

As you’ve probably guessed already, we’re in great need of your help as a volunteer and we  hope that you’ll find this brief profile of our work interesting enough to make you want to pick up the phone or send us an email so you can get involved – we’d love to hear from you!

Here’s what one of our volunteers had to say recently:

“A big thanks for giving me the opportunity to speak out about what I am facing today. Through Enable Me I have been able to reach people out there and tell them how they can help, support and value a disabled person like me!Before Enable Me give me this opportunity to speak out to children in schools, it was so hard and frustrating for me with my multi-disabilities. But with the great help from Enable Me, I’ve been able to reach the world out there.  Everyone in Enable Me has shown me respect and valued me!  And because of that, I have been able to build up my confidence again! “Enable Me volunteer, Worthing
